Defying norms

A photographer and an artist have made an anthology dedicated to female photographers of African descent living around the world.

Mfon: Women Photographers of the African Diaspora is believed to be the first collection of its kind for 30 years.

A huge fire gutted a car park in Liverpool, destroying about 1,300 vehicles. The nearby Echo Arena had been hosting the Liverpool International Horse Show at the time, and hundreds of people were stranded overnight on New Year’s Eve because of the fire.
